With the combination of sweet and warm, spicy flavors, ginger jam creates an interesting sensation for the taster.

The benefits of ginger jam

Relieves sore throat, motion sickness

Ginger is also widely used in alleviating motion sickness symptoms. People who frequently suffer from motion sickness often use ginger water to improve the condition effectively.

The spicy taste and hot nature of ginger jam are due to containing gingerol, a compound found in ginger. Therefore, ginger jam is often used as a traditional remedy to soothe symptoms of a cold stomach or nausea. The distinct aroma of ginger jam can also help calm the discomfort of motion sickness.

Improves cardiovascular health and blood pressure

When using ginger jam in moderation and correctly, we can maximize the benefits it brings. Ginger jam can help improve cardiovascular health and high blood pressure in the elderly.

Ginger has the ability to inhibit and reduce bad cholesterol levels in the body through the excretory system, while simultaneously increasing good cholesterol. This helps improve blood circulation and prevent the risk of strokes and sudden heart attacks.

However, remember that ginger jam also contains sugar, so people with blood sugar issues should use ginger jam carefully and with guidance from medical experts.

Boosts natural resistance

It is not surprising that ginger is considered a natural “remedy” with antifungal and parasitic properties, helping to fight flu. The ingredients in ginger jam can also help boost the body's resistance, thereby helping to prevent common diseases like colds, fevers, and coughs.

Effective anti-inflammatory

Ginger contains gingerol, a strong anti-inflammatory substance, capable of supporting and preventing diseases related to bones and joints such as osteoporosis and arthritis. Using ginger jam correctly can help reduce pain in cases of body aches.

Next, cut the ginger into thin slices about 1 – 2mm thick. Put the ginger into water with half a lemon squeezed in to keep the ginger from darkening. Wash the ginger thoroughly until the rinse water is clear, then put the ginger in a pot and boil for 15 minutes.

After cooking for 15 minutes, turn off the heat and remove the ginger from the pot. Immediately, put the ginger into water with a few ice cubes, then wash the ginger and let it drain.

Marinating sliced ginger

Put the ginger into the pot to boil for the second time. When the water boils, add lemon juice to the pot and boil the ginger for about 15 minutes.

After boiling for 15 minutes, remove the ginger and put it in a basket to drain. The purpose of boiling the ginger is to reduce its spicy, pungent taste. Next, put the ginger in a bowl and add sugar, mix well. Marinate the ginger in the bowl for about 4 hours.

Cooking the jam

After the sugar has soaked into the ginger, pour the entire mixture into a pan and set the heat to medium-high. When the sugar water begins to thicken, reduce the heat and stir the ginger continuously to avoid burning.

When the sugar has dried and formed a white powder layer sticking to the ginger slices, the ginger jam is finished and you can turn off the heat immediately.

After the sugar has dried and cooled completely, you can put the ginger jam into a bag or airtight container. Enjoy ginger jam with a little hot tea to sip and chat with everyone.
