On Valentine's Day, just being with the person you love is already a source of happiness
Valentine's Day – the day for lovers to exchange sweet words of love, warm hugs, and special gifts. On this day, who wouldn't want their loved one to be happy? And of course, I am no exception. I spent time choosing the gift she likes and imagining the radiant smile on her face…
My girl is a girl with a strong personality, somewhat adventurous and exploratory, yet also somewhat nostalgic for things with traditional values. She is quite unique; she is not like other girls who ask for chocolate, roses... as people usually give on Valentine's Day. She doesn't like showy or ostentatious things, doesn't like expensive gifts, or chasing after what are called “Trends”. She only likes gifts that show attention to her interests.

My girl is somewhat nostalgic, enjoys drinking tea and eating rustic traditional cakes and candies...
Amidst the rush of time and the busyness of the city, she still sets aside time for her elegant hobbies such as enjoying tea, humming Trinh music, and enjoying rustic cakes and candies that she told me: “Those are snacks that carry the flavor of my childhood”.
I still remember our dating spots, which are tea and cake shops imbued with the marks of old Hanoi, sometimes just hanging out at roadside stalls... My girl is rustic and simple like that! That's why, instead of stopping by fresh flower shops or cosmetic, shoe, and clothing stores... I drove up to Hang Than street to buy her gifts kẹo lạc, che-lam...imbuing the traditional flavor.

Fragrant and nutty peanut candy is a snack she really likes to eat
The first Valentine's Day together, yet I gave my loved one rustic snacks like peanut candy or traditional Vietnamese sugar cakes, I guess that's just me, right? But what does it matter when it's the snack she likes, and for me, just seeing her smile is happiness enough. I want her to understand my thoughts, that I love her sincerely and love her even for her smallest preferences. I am sure she will truly like this gift...
Driving to her front door, I nervously rang the doorbell and waited. She appeared in a pure white dress, I shyly gave her the gift I had chosen, accompanied by sweet wishes for her.
She burst into laughter teasing me, making my face turn as red as a ripe gac fruit: “Oh my god, did you really buy peanut candy for me for Valentine's Day?”.
Scratching my head, I stammered: “I thought you liked eating peanut candy...”.
She smiled gently, leaned into my ear and said: “Yes. I really, really like it!”.
I swear to you, that was the most beautiful smile I have ever seen. Unable to control myself, I hugged her. We had a happy Valentine's Day, a Valentine's Day without chocolate...
…
Ultimately, in every relationship, everyone just wants their loved one to be happy. And that happiness is not measured by material things, it is not expensive branded gifts, but from the sincerity of oneself, from understanding the person you love and bringing them what they need.
